Slim & Husky’s Breaks Ground on Atlanta Location in Adair Park

The first restaurant they are building from the ground up is slated to open during summer 2019

[ATLANTA, GEORGIA, January 8] Nashville-based pizza restaurant, Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria held an official groundbreaking on Tuesday for one of its two Atlanta locations opening in 2019.

The Adair Park location at 581 Metropolitan Parkway is the first Slim & Husky’s restaurant that will be built from the ground up while another spot at 1016 Howell Mill Road is a turnkey establishment. Childhood friends and longtime business partners, Clint Gray, E.J. Reed, and Derrick Moore announced their plans to expand to the Atlanta area late last year.

“Growing up in Nashville, Atlanta was always in our backyard,” Gray said. “The culture here fits our brand tremendously. With the focus on hip hop and R&B, it’s a perfect fit.”

Founded by three Nashville natives, the brand aims to invigorate underserved areas of the community through employment opportunities and accessible dining experiences including locally brewed craft beer (expect 10 Atlanta beers on tap) and innovative pizza creations. The Rony! Roni! Rone!, California Love, and Cee No Green are the names of just a few of their hip-hop and R&B-inspired pies.

Surrounded by family, friends, and Atlanta city council members including District 12’s Joyce Sheppard and District 4’s Cleta Winslow, the trio described their plans to bring opportunities to area residents.

“We drove around Atlanta for 5 hours looking for a spot and this is the last spot we saw. We pulled up, looked around, and were like, ‘it’s perfect,” Moore said of their journey with local real estate broker Arnee Harrison. “And it is perfect for us to bring jobs, hope to the community, and just inspiration for everybody.”

By the end of 2019 and between the two Atlanta locations, Slim & Husky’s plans to employ close to 200 Atlanta residents.

Slim & Husky’s is a fast casual and gourmet pizza joint serving up artisan pies and unique cinnamon rolls made with locally sourced ingredients. It offers build-your-own pizzas, take out services, and delivery through third-party vendors.
