Slim & Husky’s Co-Owners to Present Keynote Address at the Nashville Business Incubation Center’s 32nd Annual Awards Event - Slim & Husky's

[NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, January 18] Slim & Husky’s co-owners, Clint Gray, Derrick Moore, and Emanuel Reed will be the keynote speakers at Nashville Business Incubation Center’s (NBIC) 32nd annual awards. The luncheon, which is primarily for the graduates of the center’s business programs, will be held Thursday, January 24 at the Hilton Garden Inn Vanderbilt.

As one of 127 businesses that have graduated from the NBIC program over the past three decades, Slim & Husky’s was a natural choice to feature at the event for NBIC Chief Executive Officer Angela Crane-Jones.

“Our mission is to cultivate growth in small business,” she said, “the guys are serial entrepreneurs.”

After running a successful business, Green Truck Moving Company, the three Nashville natives and childhood friends founded Slim & Husky’s, a hip-hop-inspired pizza spot. Since graduating from the program, Slim & Husky’s has opened three Middle Tennessee establishments with two more Nashville locations in the works. In addition, the pizza chain is also opening two spots in Atlanta, Georgia this year.

“We just want to be a part of this street as much as possible and continue to develop and have a footprint in this community,” Slim & Husky’s co-owner Derrick Moore said.

The trio not only sells pizza, but they also sell a vision – one that involves the uplifting of black communities across the nation through employment opportunities. So far, the company has provided 150-175 jobs in Nashville and plans to employ close to 200 Atlanta residents by the end of 2019.

“At NBIC, we inspire the current client that [success] is possible if they follow the recipe NBIC has created,” Crane-Jones said.

Slim & Husky’s is a fast casual and gourmet pizza joint serving up artisan pies and unique cinnamon rolls made with locally sourced ingredients. It offers build-your-own pizzas, take out services, and delivery through third-party vendors.
